Little Man's 1st Haircut

Mr. Luke's hair had been a little out of control for quite awhile, so we decided his first haircut was long overdue! As much as I know we could have cut his hair by ourselves, I just didn't quite trust myself with the scissors and did not want to be the one to blame if I messed up. My sweet hairdresser, Belinda, loved the idea of meeting Luke and giving him his first haircut, and I loved the idea that at least it was someone I knew who would be cutting his hair, so we went ahead and set up the appointment. Unfortunately, the first appointment we set up ended up needing to be changed, which was hard for me. I had been so anxious about getting the little man's haircut and was prepared to see my baby turn into a little boy, and then we ended up having to go home because Belinda had completely forgotten about our appointment. She was so embarrassed since she never does that, but we ( by "we" I mean I) quickly got over it. We ended up going the next week for our appointment.
The BEFORE shot. (Nice comb-over!)

Jeremy ended up having to work late, so my mom came to the rescue to help me out. Luke sat in my lap while my mom distracted him with toys. Great teamwork! I loved introducing Luke to Belinda and am happy that she was able to give him his first haircut. I think she did a great job!

Goodbye long hair!
Blow-drying baby hair.
Check me out!
Thank you, Ms. Belinda!
Thank you, Nana, for coming with us!
Baby Luke did a great job, considering he was only 7 months old when he got his hair cut for the first time! Sadly, my baby seems to be turning into a little boy more and more! I think my brother had the best description for him...he looks very dapper!

My 1st Mother's Day

Before deciding we were "ready" to have a baby, we used to begin our Mother's Day and Father's Day by saying, "Happy you're not a mother/father day!" This year was quite a change from that routine as I was excited to be celebrating Mother's Day as a mom. When Jeremy picked Luke up from school on Friday, they handed him a wrapped gift the little ones had made for their moms. Even though I could see through the tissue wrapping, I tried not to look too closely so that I could open Luke's gift on Sunday.
My 1st Mother's Day gift from baby Luke.

Precious little hand print!

I tried to get a cute picture of Luke holding his gift, but he was more interested in eating it!
Yum! Yum!
We enjoyed hosting our families for Mother's Day lunch this year. We made fajitas and hung out at home. Mr. Luke was a trooper and stayed awake most of the time everyone was here. He didn't want to miss anything!
Sweet little man!
Not only did Luke's school do a great job of creating a sweet gift for me, Jeremy did a great job with his gift, too. While I was out being pampered on Saturday (thank you to my in-laws for the gift certificate for a facial and pedicure), Jeremy made signs using my Cricut that said Happy Mother's Day and then took pictures of Luke holding the signs and put them in a frame. What a perfect gift! I was definitely impressed with his Cricut usage without me there! He also bought a sweet board book for me to read with Luke called Two to Cuddle and stuck 6 free car wash coupons in random spots inside the book. He knows that I love to have a clean car and rarely take the time to go do it. Now I have no excuse!

Can I eat this?

Cheese!
How can you not smile at this sweet face?
I am so blessed to have such a sweet baby! I love his little personality and the joy that he brings to everyone. I am definitely happy that this year I was greeted with "Happy Mother's Day!" and can't wait for this little guy to be able to say those words to me.

Happy Mother's Day to my mom and my mother-in-law. I am lucky to have two wonderful ladies to help me through this journey of motherhood!
